By Light is seeking an experienced AV Design Engineer who specializes in AutoCAD to join our team, supporting the Department of Defense and other key clients. This role is focused on designing and documenting advanced audiovisual systems, with a heavy emphasis on using AutoCAD for creating detailed system layouts, schematics, and technical documentation.

Design and develop AV systems, including audio, video, and control solutions, using AutoCAD to create system drawings and layouts.
• Create accurate system schematics, floor plans, rack elevations, and wiring diagrams to ensure seamless integration.
• Work closely with project managers, architects, and installation teams to understand project needs and provide tailored design solutions.
• Maintain and update project documentation, including as-built drawings and technical specifications.
• Ensure all designs meet industry standards and follow best practices, including AVIXA, ADA, and EIA guidelines.
• Perform equipment selection, cable routing, and system load calculations to optimize performance.
• Participate in design review meetings, offering technical input to improve system designs.
• Stay current on the latest AV technologies and trends, incorporating best practices into design workflows.
• Support installation teams with design-related queries, ensuring that systems are installed according to the design specifications.
• Work with vendors and manufacturers to specify and source equipment and materials for system implementation.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience designing AV systems, with extensive expertise using AutoCAD for technical drawings and system layouts.
• Strong command of AutoCAD, with the ability to create detailed schematics, floor plans, and wiring diagrams for AV systems.
• Thorough understanding of AV systems, including video distribution, audio systems, and control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron).
• Experience with AV hardware like displays, projectors, audio processors, and video conferencing solutions.
• Ability to read and modify architectural drawings to integrate AV systems seamlessly.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in both design and documentation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with clients, architects, and technical teams.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary.

• Certifications such as AVIXA CTS-D or similar.
• Experience using other AV design software like Visio.
• Knowledge of industry standards like AVIXA, ADA, and EIA guidelines.
• Experience with AVoIP technologies and designing IP-based AV systems.

• Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred or the ability to obtain one.

Salary Minimum: $90,000

Salary Maximum: $120,000
